Daikin heat pump repair in Sunnyvale, Santa Clara and Cupertino usually involves one of three setups: a ducted heat pump or air conditioner paired with a furnace or air handler, a ductless mini-split serving rooms the ducts never reached, or a VRV system in a commercial building. Daikin equipment is made by Daikin Industries, a company known for inverter compressor technology, and that shapes the diagnosis. An inverter system can run for hours at low speed on purpose, so “it never shuts off” is not a fault by itself.
Daikin equipment we work on

Daikin heat pump not keeping up: what we test
Most people looking for Daikin repair have a heat pump problem, and most heat pump calls come down to a short list. We work through it in this order, because the simple causes hide behind the expensive ones:
- The demand signal. Is the thermostat or remote actually asking for heat or cooling, in the right mode, with a sensible setpoint? A control set up for the wrong system type can keep a healthy unit idle.
- Airflow. A clogged filter or a dirty indoor coil starves a heat pump in both seasons. In heating it can trip the unit on high pressure; in cooling it can freeze the coil.
- Defrost. In cold weather frost builds on the outdoor coil, and the unit reverses for a few minutes to clear it. Steam rising from the outdoor unit during that cycle is expected. A coil that stays caked with ice points to a sensor, the defrost control or a low charge.
- Outdoor fan, capacitor and contactor. On models that use them, these fail more often than compressors, and a meter shows them weakening before they quit.
- Inverter board and sensors. When a code points to a sensor or the compressor drive, we test that circuit instead of replacing the board on the strength of the code alone.
- Refrigerant and compressor symptoms. Gauges tell a clear story only after airflow and electrical checks pass. A leak is located and repaired before any refrigerant is added.

Fault codes and the “runs all day” question
A Daikin that is short of capacity often tells you so. Ductless units and many ducted Daikin controls show a short letter-and-number code, or the indoor unit blinks a light pattern. Write it down or take a photo before resetting anything: a power reset clears some codes, and the code is the fastest route to the right circuit.
Not every odd behavior is a fault, though. A Daikin inverter ramps down as the room approaches the setpoint, so the outdoor unit may hum quietly for hours. That is how it holds an even temperature with less energy. It becomes a problem only when rooms miss the setting, the unit starts and stops every few minutes, or a code appears.
Daikin ductless in Eichler homes and condos
Eichler homes in Sunnyvale and Cupertino have radiant heat in the slab and no attic, so there is nowhere to run supply ducts for central air. A Daikin wall unit in each main room, or a multi-zone outdoor unit serving several, is a common answer. Those systems need their own care: washable filters behind the front panel, a clean blower wheel, and a condensate line that keeps its slope so water never runs down the wall. Before a major Daikin part is approved
A compressor, an inverter board or a coil is a big decision on any system. Before you say yes, look at the model and serial numbers, the install date, whether the part is still easy to get and what the warranty papers say.
