An Amana furnace that will not light on a cold Sunnyvale night, or an Amana air conditioner that hums in the side yard without cooling the house, almost never needs a whole new system. It needs the one failed part found, and the way to find it is to follow the equipment’s own sequence until it stops. When an Amana furnace will not heat
A gas furnace starts in a fixed order. The thermostat calls for heat, the inducer motor starts, a pressure switch confirms the vent is drawing, the igniter heats up, the gas valve opens, a flame sensor proves the burners are lit, and after a short delay the blower starts. The step where your furnace stops tells us where to look.

When the Amana AC runs but the house stays warm
Refrigerant is the last thing we test, not the first. Before any gauges go on, the visit confirms the thermostat is really calling for cooling, the filter is not choking the airflow, and the outdoor fan is turning. Then come electrical readings on the run capacitor and the contactor, which fail far more often than compressors do. Next is coil condition: an outdoor coil packed with dust and leaves, or an indoor coil that has iced over. Amana heat pumps and air handlers
Some homes run an Amana heat pump with an air handler instead of a furnace and AC pair. In winter the outdoor unit stops its fan now and then and gives off steam for a few minutes. That is the defrost cycle, and it is normal. A heat pump that stays caked in ice, blows cool air for long stretches, or leans on its backup electric heat all day has a real fault, usually in the defrost controls, the reversing valve or the airflow. Parts, paperwork and Amana warranty claims
Before a major component is approved, three things get checked: the model and serial number (the serial also tells the age), whether the part is still available, and what your warranty paperwork covers. Manufacturer coverage depends on the model, the install date and registration, and a claim goes through Amana’s own process. Repair or replace an older Amana
One capacitor on a ten-year-old system is a repair. A failed compressor or a cracked heat exchanger on an aging system starts a different conversation, and a cracked heat exchanger is a safety issue, not a comfort one. We lay out both paths. Call right away if the system is fully down in a heat spell or on a cold night, keeps tripping its breaker, leaks water, or buzzes and crackles.
